Designer and furniture maker Robert Akroyd’s custom furnishings are crafted from walnut, cherry, white oak and maple, sourced from local and regional woodlots. Akroyd’s background is in sculpture, and visitors to his Distillery District open studio will find the artisan at work on pieces influenced by the likes of Henry Moore. Modern architecture and industrial styles also serve as inspiration for such works as a grey elm/white lacquer sculptural frieze dresser, studded aluminum drawer faces and live-edge slab tables.
