Tokyo-born interior designer Daisuke Kono is behind some of this city’s coolest bars, and many of his clean-lined custom furnishings fabricated from new and reclaimed materials are found here. Look for monolithic concrete dining tables finished in acid-treated resin, as well as wooden benches and desks tucked among an eclectic assortment of antique tchotchkes. Kono recently launched Konoya, an online gift shop stocked with Japanese items including notebooks bound by craftsmen in Tokyo, Hakusan porcelain plates and handmade bamboo lampshades.
