Scenery along the westernmost portion of the Gardiner Expressway, once limited to IKEA flags and the Humber Bay Arch Bridge, now includes a 140-square-metre mural by L.A. artist El Mac, with background painted by Toronto’s Kwest and Montreal’s Stare. Entitled To the Future, the artwork graces the roof of architectural fabricator Eventscape Inc.’s Etobicoke headquarters. The northeast-facing piece, which shows a woman looking straight ahead with her hands cupped like binoculars, is an homage to Alex Colville’s 1965 painting To Prince Edward Island. Toronto-born Colville appreciated the beauty found in everyday moments. eventscape.com
