5 Playful Scandinavian Pieces We Want from Blu Dot
These are our favourite pieces from Blu Dot, a modern Minnesota-based design studio that believes “good design doesn’t have to be serious.” We rounded-up five of our favourite tongue-in-cheek looks, available in Toronto, from their Scandinavian-inspired lineup below
Cat’s Meow
We’re stuck on this Blu Dot mix-tape inspired lounge chair that comes in five colour combos, from refreshing citron to Nordic white. The upholstered seat and back are perfectly angled for cat naps, and may be the reason the studio decided to call this one-of-a-kind piece “Cats Pajamas.”
Smooth Operator
The relaxed, lived-in feel of camel leather contrasts beautifully with the Dandy Sofa‘s structured back and seat. Reed-thin legs will make you feel like you’re floating mid-air, while rounded corners soften up the minimalist frame. Available in a host of different fabric and leather options, this in one dandy that you’ll want to have over for tea again and again. 86″ wide.
Dream Weaver
The Laika Pendant light interweaves a hand woven, peek-a-boo rattan pattern with a powder-coated steel cage, creating an eye-catching blend of craft and design. Available in white, black, or natural coloured rattan and in a range of shapes and sizes. We see it suspended right above a kitchen table or in a high-ceilinged bedroom.
People Pleaser
The gently reclining Field Lounge Chair was made for relaxing at home, alone or in a pair. Rounded edges, a plush seat and reversible cushions all sit atop a sculptural steel base. It’s the ultimate meeting of comfort and design – a Blu Dot specialty. Pair it with the Field Ottoman in neutral grey and navy for cooler palettes, or punch up your space in a daring deep red.
Soft Landing
Blu Dot’s playful use of colour comes to the fore in these downy, uniquely piped throw pillows. They come in lumbar and square sizes and have one the the best names we’ve encountered in the biz: Duck Duck Pillows.
