This international annual design and build competition raises awareness about the growing hunger gap. Teams of architects, engineers, designers and students design and build structures made entirely from canned foods. A jury will award prizes for structural ingenuity, best use of labels, best meal, people’s choice, most cans, and best original design. After the competition and exhibition, the structures are decanstructed and all of the cans are donated to Daily Bread Food Bank, Toronto’s largest community food bank.
The winners will be announced at an evening reception held at the Design Exchange, with Master of Ceremonies Francis D’Souza, reporter and anchor at CityNews. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available.
